Bread Side Stuffing from Scratch
A terrific and tasty way to use stale homemade bread slices and heels!
Will spark your tastebuds unlike any boxed stuffing could ever do!
Bread Side Stuffing from Scratch
Cut from thick sliced homemade bread:
5 cups bread cubes
Toss bread cubes with:
1/2 tsp seasoned salt
3 Tbsp. parsley flakes
4 Tbsp. olive oil
Chop and dice:
6 cloves garlic
10 leaves fresh-picked basil*
3 stalks tender celery with leaves
1 medium-sized red onion
Melt in deep skillet:
1/4 cup butter
Add in chopped onion, garlic, celery, basil and sauté 8-10 minutes.
Toss to mix well.
Transfer to baking pan and bake 15 minutes at 400 degrees.
Serve on the side with roast chicken.
My menu suggestion:
ROAST CHICKEN
BREAD SIDE STUFFING
GRAVY
BAKED SWEET POTATOES
STEAMED BROCOLLI
*I make it a point to grow basil in some of my porch planters each season--even mix them in with flowers.
This year I mixed crimson basil with white periwinkles!
