Menu Ideas for a Garden Party : Anne of Green Gables Theme
To host a party involves preparation and planning. You will need to decide a theme, a place, a time, who you will invite, activities, what will you have for party favors -- and like the cute quip "I'm here for the cake!", making out a menu is one of the most important parts.
My granddaughter and I hosted a garden party using ideas found in the delightful tales found in the beloved book by L.M. Montgomery, "Anne of Green Gables."
You can watch the Anne of Green Gables Garden Party in my garden livestreaming now on my youtube channel by clicking here or click on the photo below.
We planned our menu around our theme and to fit the setting. We also took into consideration what the guests might enjoy.

Tiny Party Sandwiches: You always trim the crusts from the bread for a tea party sandwich! The sandwiches can then be cut into shapes with a cookie cutter shape or simply cut into 1/4ths forming little squares or slice diagonally for triangular shapes. If you leave them open face - add a little wooden party pick to hold the toppings in place. Always trim the crust and cut out the shape before adding the sandwich fillings so you won't waste any of the good stuff that goes inside the bread.
Any party sandwich ALWAYS is the tastiest on homemade bread!
Find my all my favorite homemade bread recipes using a large kitchen mixer here in my cookbook - "Make it Special! Homemade with Love"
Note: I always save all the trimmed crusts and pop them in a zip-seal bag and store in my freezer. At a later date, I use them to make homemade croutons by cutting them into small bite-size pieces -- find my recipe here.
They trimmings of crust from your bread can also be pulverized in a blender or food processor to make breadcrumbs that can be used in a variety of recipes.
